not just eliminate skills ~

Aye, I agree. That's why I edited my post... if a Monster would stay at least for a little while under Fire Storm, that would be more realistic.

Then you could cast other spells to keep them there.

I do think the patch needs to be tweaked, but I'm not opposed to enemies running from AoE spells at a certain point (at 1/2 life, for ex.).

I don't have snare nor do i intend on getting skills to slow enemies down.. I like to chase them for miles and kill them in the end and to see that no drops for me!

Guru.. please don't flame me.. i'm just putting up the point that AoE is forcing people to play smart instead of the good old way of nuking them to death!

Ugh. Now that's not good....

the fricken cinematic for this game is bogus now that the monsters Cynn is attacking "actually get hit" 0.o

I have 2 copies of this game and have been playing it since day one. This new patch sucks a$$!

1.) The majority of fire skills are AOE
2.) The only good smite skills are AOE except Shield of Judgement (elite)
3.) The only available good ele skills for the first 2/3 of the game are fire. PvE people are comfortable with fire eles because of this. They need to now go back and add other ele skills earlier in the game!
4.) Monsters flee right away. At least let them get hit a couple of times or all these big powerful 25 energy AOE skills become totally worthless.
5.) All these skill I bought now have to be changed....shouldn't I get some gold back?!
6.) Same goes with my runes and staffs!
7.) They need to change some of the NPC skills. They now run away from Cynn making her useless.

BTW how do other spells like Maelstrom, Chaos Storm, Barrage, Symbol of Wrath, Well of Suffering, and Well of Profane affect creatures? Do they cause them to run away or spread out further?

I believe that they will probably revise this, given the outpour of discontent regarding the patch, so I think we should all just calm down

I've found that henchies previously listened to "ground-click" movement better than WASD movement when you want them to regroup. Can someone run a test where Thom or Cynn run off and you try to get them back with ground-clicks? What about calling targets? Do they listen?

If the answer to both of these is "no," then I know I'm totally screwed.

The solution to this problem is very easy and if one of the members of ANET is reading this, here is our solution.....

REVERSE YOUR UPDATE! PUT PVE BACK FROM THE WAY IT WAS BEFORE!

Gah! No one was complaining on how it was 1 or 2 days ago! Ok, maybe just 5% of 'em who doesn't understand WHAT PVP is there for!

PLS put it back from the way it was. We were all happy from how it used to be. Dammit try even looking at my previous post here in this site, YOU wont see any complains from me....well, xcept from the ones I recently made because of this update.

Anyone tried this early in game or even in pre sear yet?
Most opinions on this are from a pvp/lvl20 point of view.

I'd love to see a lvl 1 elem try to use their new Firestorm spell on the groups of Ice Golems that come barrelling in. You know, the one's that you're meant to use Firestorm on to kill. Come to think of it any low level elems who now find themselves getting their team massacred by doing nothing more than casting almost any of the spells in their skill list.

People saying this update is good and is doing as intended, take a step back from where you are in the game and realise that for the greater majority this game is now broken.

Default I still think people are missing the point...

I believe that many people are missing the point here...there are players like myself that enjoy solo play, for various reasons, yes we can adapt, no problem, I still solo UW just like always, but, the part I am finally realizing is this, solo players are not welcome in GW, they never were, this game was designed to be team played. I am not saying this is bad by any stretch, it is just that we tried to make GW something it is not, I do not believe that anet will reverse the update, simply because the result is exactly what they wanted...for the most part, they want to stop solo play, Gaile said it herself on page 17, it was fun while it lasted for people like myself, treasure hunters or whatever you want to call us

As a Mesmer, you usually have to consider yourselves lucky to even get INVITED to a group. Next problem is that you won't know if that ele is a nuker (eeeek, kick them!!!) or a water ele (cool!!!!). They all look the same.

Next thing - especially in UW / FoW: How are you actually supposed to kill the critters in a REASONABLE time without a nuker? I loved the groups they were before (if I could get into one, that was...): Tanks who could tank, nukers who would do the brunt of the damage, Monks who'd prot and heal, Necros who would care about the monks's energy and do nasty stuff to critters and Mesmers who'd wreak havoc among enemy caster types. Everyone had a specific role. Tactics. Strategy. Now's it all about playing tag with madly dashing Ataxes and Shadow Warriors. Leroy Jenkins style of gameplay. Everybody runs away from everybody. And nukers will take the Mesmers' role of the most hated class in the game. Even worse, since Mesmers were only considered useless while nukers from now on will be considered DANGEROUS.

As someone who knows the WASD, ground-click, and "I'm targeting myself" method of controlling henchies I can tell you with no-reserveration that none of it works anymore except the target-calling...

"I'm targeting myself"
"I'm targeting myself"
"I'm targeting myself"

Man, if there was ever a poster child for people who desperately need to read "Who Moved My Cheese?", it is the vast majority of the posters in this thread. Seriously, read the book. It is the best piece of advice you will ever receive.

Mesmers were never useless... just not as vital as a tank or a monk.

Every character is important, which was what made this game amazing, now ... not so amazing
